William Loughborough has been associated with Smith-Kettlewell since its early inception, making many contributions to rehabilitation research. He was the instigator of the Talking Signs© project, publishing the first paper on this concept (then known as Talking Lights) in 1979. As well as continuing contributions to the system's later evolution and dissemination, he has also spearheaded our Web Accessibility Project to help ensure that the World Wide Web and associated infrastructure is accessible to those with visual impairments
