Call for Volunteers

We seek student volunteers for the 21st International Web for All Conference (W4A’24). In exchange for one full day equivalent of work, students will receive a free pass to the W4A conference. We encourage undergraduate students as volunteers, as well as PhD and MSc students.

Since W4A’24 may be a hybrid event, volunteer tasks may include:

  • Logistics: set up the chat and presentation infrastructure
  • Helpdesk: troubleshoot technical issues during the conference
  • Program Support: facilitate video presentations and virtual rooms during the conference

Application instructions:

Applicants are required to submit the following to pc2024@w4a.info:

  • A document including:
    • Full name
    • Degree Program (B.Sc., M.Sc., or Ph.D.)
    • University or College
    • A free-form letter (500 word) about their interest in the conference
  • Proof of enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program.

Google Student Scholarships

We are happy to announce the 2024 Google Student Scholarships. These scholarships (USD 500 each) are intended for graduate students (i.e., Master and PhD students) working on web accessibility-related projects in developing and least-developed countries, as well as in under-represented institutions. Undergraduate students can also apply, but graduate students will be given higher priority.

Benefits and Expectations

  • Awardees will receive the Google Student Scholarship certificate.
  • W4A will reimburse registration costs for awardees.
  • Awardees are expected to attend all 2 days of the conference.
  • Awardees may be asked to elaborate on their ideas in one of the W4A sessions.

Application Instructions

Applicants are required to submit the following to google.scholarship@w4a.info by April 12th, 2024:

  1. A document including:
    • Full name
    • Degree Program (B.Sc., M.Sc., or Ph.D.)
    • University or College
    • A free-form abstract (500-1000 words) about their project.
  2. Proof of enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program.

Selection criteria

  • The scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students in any discipline. A proof of enrollment is required.
  • Scholarships will be given only to students working in developing countries, least-developed countries or under-represented institutions.
  • Scholarship recipients will be selected to maximize diversity and impact.
  • The scholarship CANNOT be combined with the Google Doctoral Consortium or the IBM People with Disabilities Students Award.
